P-1908 Aircraft Hangars and Administrative Building

Administrative Building:  70 tons seismic reinforced steel
Hangar 1:  688 tons of seismic reinforced steel
Notable:  395’ clear span streel truss – second longest in the world

Agate Steel implemented the exact same approach as shown in P-1900. This enabled the design-build process to mature with the procurement process already completed.

• The administrative building featured a concrete tilt-up shell interacting with structural steel as with P-1900.

• Extensive design-build BIM coordination was conducted by Agate Steel and the Exact Detailing teams to ensure adherence to project specifications and safe, efficient installation of the extensive steel truss.

• Throughout the project, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) principles were employed, with detailed BIM coordination facilitated by Agate Steel and Exact Detailing teams.

• IFC models were utilized as reference points for subsequent trades, including Agate Steel’s erection partner, LPR Construction, for a full, structural engineering stamped erection plan.

• Regular communication and collaboration were maintained through weekly Teams calls involving Hensel Phelps, subcontractors, and Agate Steel/Exact Detailing teams.

• This approach with LPR construction allowed for the identification and resolution of conflicts and clashes to enable an efficient installation of the world’ second longest span steel truss at 395 feet.

The project was awarded in February 2021 and achieved substantial completion in December 2022, reflecting efficient project management and execution.
